✅ Bilberry (Whortleberry) is safe to eat — but watch out for its dangerous lookalike!
☠️ DANGER THIS MONTH
Deadly Nightshade — ☠️ DEADLY. Just 2-3 berries can kill a child. Do NOT touch.
🔍 ☠️ DEADLY: Deadly Nightshade has LARGE shiny black berries (cherry-sized) on a TALL leafy plant. Bilberry is a LOW shrub with SMALL matte blue-black berries. If the berries are cherry-sized on a tall plant, do NOT touch it.
Foxglove — ☠️ HIGH. Can cause heart failure. Toxins can be absorbed through skin.
🔍 ☠️ DEADLY: Foxglove has tall spikes of PINK/PURPLE trumpet flowers. Comfrey has smaller bell-shaped flowers that hang in loose clusters. Foxglove is a single tall spike with distinct trumpet shapes.
